Safety Town is a unique educational experience for children ages 5 and 6. It is held each year during the month of June. Safety Town educates participants on bicycle, street, and personal safety. The course also discussed stranger danger, use of 911, and fire safety. Each week-long session is free and consists of five 50-minute classes. Upon completion of the program, each child receives a graduation certificate and the helmet that they wore during safety training.
Safety Town sessions are offered Monday-Friday at 9am, 10:10am, 11:20am. Classes run June 6-10, June 13-17, June 20-24, and June 27-July1. Evening classes are held the week of June 6 and June 20 beginning at 6pm.
Safety Town is a partnership between Sooner Mall and the Norman Police Department. The educational experience would not be possible without the help of sponsors. Some of our sponsors are: City of Norman, Norman Fire Department, EMSTAT, the Norman Traffic, and Streets Division, Image 360, and the Sooner Rotary Club.
